Aguila Awards Foundation makes donations to community groups.
AUSTIN, TX (May 14, 2004) — Central Texas community-service organizations AVANCE, the National Hispanic Institute, and the Round Rock Health Clinic have each been named this year’s recipients of $1,000.00 donations by the Aguila Awards Foundation.
The selection of the three nonprofit organizations was made in conjunction with the Aguila Awards Foundation’s inaugural awards dinner and gala. The star-studded event was held Friday, April 30, at the Four Seasons in Austin. The event showcased individuals and organizations from across Central Texas that have attained success in their respective spheres of influence.
“We are proud to support these community organizations because they are representative of the energy, commitment and leadership needed to build strong communities,” said Roxana Estrada, Executive Director of the Aguila Awards Foundation.
The nonprofit organizations primarily serve Hispanics in Travis, Caldwell, and Williamson counties. They have played instrumental roles in the ongoing development and empowerment of residents in these areas. Their specific efforts to involve residents in projects and services that impact and benefit youth, adults, and senior citizens in their respective service areas have resulted in increased volunteerism and heightened awareness of issues affecting Hispanics throughout Central Texas.
“We feel it is important the Aguila Awards Foundation created a process by which the public can recognize individuals and organizations whose efforts contribute to the development and success of our community in Central Texas,” said Rosalia Castañeda, Executive Director of AVANCE-Austin. “We have already noticed a positive impact with the added publicity we have received from our nomination,” added Ms. Castañeda.

“We, at the Round Rock Health Clinic are honored to be awarded the 2004 Aguila Award in the Community category. Proper healthcare is a tremendous concern for the Hispanic community as it is for all of the residents of Central Texas and we are pleased that we are able to provide quality, affordable healthcare. Our commitment to serve the community is not a choice, but rather a social responsibility,” stated RRHC’s CEO Andrew Martinez.
“We will remain a viable partner to Central Texas communities and continue to deliver the services that earned us the recognition of the Aguila Awards Foundation,” said NHI’s Founder Ernesto Nieto.
The Aguila Awards Foundation was established in 2003, to create awareness of — and provide visibility for — positive examples and role models throughout the Central Texas Hispanic community. The foundation allows for the public to cast votes for their favorite candidates, via the internet, in several categories. For more information, please visit www.AguilaAwards.com.
