People’s Choice Awards program honors
talented Texans.

Nominations being accepted for 2006 Texas Aguila Award Recipients.

AUSTIN, TX (August 2, 2005) — The Aguila Awards Foundation (AAF), an organization established to create awareness and provide visibility for positive role models within the Texas Hispanic community,  announced today nominations are being accepted for its 2006 Aguila Award recipients.  This premiere People’s Choice awards format allows the Texas community to select its leadership serving the Hispanic community.

The community is encouraged to visit the AAF website, www. AguilaAwards.com to submit a nomination.  Nominees should be individuals or organizations that provide a product, service or opportunity that positively impacts the Texas Latino community.  Nominees should have achieved extraordinary achievement in their respective industry and serve as a positive role model.  Previous Aguila Awards have been awarded in the areas, which include, but are not limited to Business, Education, Public Service, Music, Sports, and Media.

“We encourage the Texas community to show their support by recognizing individuals for their outstanding achievements within the Latino community.  It is essential we recognize these extraordinary citizens that give of their time and talents to better our community,” stated Ron Estrada, Co-Founder, Aguila Awards Foundation.  “With the Hispanic population growing so rapidly, we need to identify positive role models from within our community, to provide a path for success for our youth to emulate.”

“Our Latino community is experiencing progress in many areas.  We need to begin identifying the next generation of Hispanic leaders in various industries such as Actress Eva Longoria, Director Robert Rodriguez, U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez and Athletes Manu Ginobli and Oscar Pareja,” added Estrada.

All submissions must by received before or on October 31, 2005 for consideration.  Nominations will be reviewed and ballots will be finalized and posted on the official website for voting by the community.  2006 Aguila Award nominees will be honored at the 2006 Texas Aguila Awards Gala scheduled for April in Austin, TX.
