News/Noticias Lopez Foods C.E.O joins Bank of Oklahoma Board Tulsa, OK (June 2, 1999) John C. Lopez, Chief Executive Officer of Lopez Foods Inc., in Oklahoma City, has been elected to the board of directors of The Bank of Oklahoma, N.A., and its parent company, BOK Financial Corporation. The announcement was made by George D. Kaiser, Chairman of BOK Financial, who said Lopez is a welcome addition to the board, and whose perspective will play a key role in the board's make-up. "John has done an impressive job in building Lopez Foods into one of McDonald's leading suppliers," Kaiser said. "He and his company represent so well the type of locally-owned and managed business that is central to our mission as Oklahoma's sole-surviving large, full service bank. He will help us maintain our focus on developing partnerships with Oklahoma companies as they grow and enhance our communities." After 14 years as a McDonald's licensee in Los Angeles, Lopez purchased controlling interest of Normac Foods Inc., in Oklahoma City, and was elected Chairperson and CEO. In 1995, the company's name was changed to Lopez Foods Inc. Lopez Foods is a producer of McDonald's all-beef hamburger patties, pork breakfast sausage and Canadian-style bacon, selling products both domestically and internationally. The company also supplies frozen food products "Country Cousin" pork sausage breakfast patties and "Lopez Pork Chorizo" to Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., nationally. Lopez is a major supporter of Ronald McDonald Children's Charities and Ronald McDonald Houses throughout the country. He has been active with the Latino Community Development Agency in Oklahoma City, and has served on the Los Angeles McDonald's Co-Op Board of Directors, the McDonald's National Operator Advisory Board of Directors and the City of L.A. Year 2000 Committee. Before entering the food services industry, Lopez worked 10 years in banking. He was raised in Glendale, AZ, and attended Northern Arizona University and the American Institute of Banking. Lopez Foods, Inc. is among the largest Hispanic-owned manufacturing companies in the United States. The company employs over 300 associates, who operate the facility 24-hours a day, making it one of Oklahoma Citys major employers and sales leaders.
