News/Noticias Mexic-Arte welcomes four new and an honorary member to its board of directors. Austin, TX (April 10, 2001) - The Board of Directors of Mexic-Arte Museum announced today the addition of four new individuals to its board. The new members-who are local business and community leaders-include Raymond Estrada, Patty Gonzales, Carl Gromatzky and George Villalva. Among the new appointees was Anne S. Johnson, who was elected as an Honorary Board Member, for her years of service and support to the museum and the arts and culture community. "We are very pleased with the confirmation of our four new members; they will impact our museum tremendously with their respective areas of expertise and their personal contributions to the museum. The board is equally proud to have Anne Johnson join us during this exciting time of growth and expansion of our museum, she brings limitless experience with her; we look forward to working with her," said Nilda Ana de la Llata, President, Board of Directors. Ms. Johnson graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelors of Art in Spanish. In Dallas she served on numerous boards including the East Dallas Community School, Dallas Children's Advocacy center, and as President of The Family Place. Raymond Estrada is a fourteen-year veteran of corporate, community relations and marketing. As Vice President of Estrada Communications Group, Inc. (ECG), a Corporate and Marketing Communications agency, Raymond directs client relations, production projects, news media release writing and distribution, manages audio/visual production projects and monitors national Hispanic and general market media relations. ECG operates offices in Austin, TX., and Los Angeles, CA., and has provided Hispanic Consumer Market-related services to the top corporations in the nation, among them Anheuser-Busch Companies, AT&T, Lopez Foods, McDonald's Corporation, MCI-WorldCom, Pizza Hut, Southwestern Bell, and Wal-Mart Stores. Patty Gonzales is a Public Information Specialist for the City of Austin Public Information Office where she serves as media liaison for media and general public. Previous to this position, she worked for the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Gonzales is also a Hispanic Austin Leadership Graduate.
Carl L. Gromatzky, AIA is principal partner with Barnes, Gromatzky, Kosarek Architects. His experience includes the Texas School for the Deaf Master Plan, Comal ISD Master Plan, Austin Museum of Art (Associate Architect), Municipal Office Complex at Black & Vernooy, Dr. Pepper Museum, Waco, Texas at Rio Group Architects and others.
George Villalva has been the owner of Villalva Architects since 1990. From 1980-1990 he was a principal with Villalva Cotera Kolar Architects. He presently serves as the Chairman of the Cesar Chavez Neighborhood Planning Team. He has served on the Board of Directors of the International Red Cross, Central Texas and the Seton East Board of Directors among others. He was a Commissioner with the Downtown Commission City of Austin from 1995-1999 and chaired the Design Commission City of Austin 1985-1992. He also served as Chair of the Art-In-Public Places Panel from 1987-1990.
This is an exciting time for Mexic-Arte Museum as they begin their next phase of development. These individuals bring valuable expertise in various areas to the Museum. Members of the Board of Directors serve on a volunteer basis. It is through the generous contributions of these individuals that Mexic-Arte Museum has grown and prospered over the years. The museum extends a warm welcome and thank you to all of the new appointees for their support.
