Wal-Mart Contributes $35,000 To the Hispanic National Bar Association.

Gift will fund legal education and professional programs

Bentonville, AR., (October 26, 2001) - In recognition of this year's Hispanic National Bar Association's (HNBA) annual convention, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. has contributed $35,000 to support the organization's programs and initiatives. The HNBA 2001 convention was held in Philadelphia, PA, October 17-20.

"As the largest private employer of Hispanics in the nation, Wal-Mart and SAM'S CLUBS have supported the mission of the HNBA for several years, and we look forward to our continued relationship with this outstanding organization," said Robert K. Rhoads, Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.

As a consistent sponsor, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. continues to support the HNBA's mission of advancing the interests of Hispanics within the legal profession and ensuring their full and equal access to and participation in the nation's legal system. Wal-Mart continues its support of the organization's professional and education programs, as well as law scholarships for deserving qualified students.

Since 1975, the HNBA has hosted conventions offering personal development seminars and access to professional advancement opportunities. "We salute Wal-Mart's continued participation with the HNBA for the benefit of law students and professionals nationwide," commented Ken Trujillo, HNBA Philadelphia Convention Chair.

The HNBA is a national, non-profit association, composed of more than 25,000 Hispanic-American attorneys, judges, law professors, legal professionals and law students in the United States. The organization's primary objectives are to increase the number of Hispanics in the legal profession and to address issues of concern to the Hispanic community.
